IDE for Prado: you might check out PHPEdit with Prado extensions:

http://www.phpedit.com/Features/Work-your-way/Prado

I didn't test it yet, but it looks promising...

Lami, I agree; there is nothing wrong with using a Microsoft approach. Especially since a "Microsoft approach" is essentially a compilation of resources and practices from all of their competitors (That's how Microsoft breaks into new markets: Xbox, Silverlight, C#, etc.).

Regarding the need for an IDE, I agree whole-heartedly. There is a Dreamweaver extension available (http://www.pradosoft.com/forum/index.php/topic,651.0.html) but I find it lacking.

But hey, I understand that it's just a bunch of people working on a labor of love. It's amazing that they've accomplished as much as they have.

I ran into Prado a couple of months ago and I must tell you i'm very excited about it being an ASP.Net developer...

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using a microsoft approach in an open-source project. Darn microsoft does it all the time (steal the best from php, java, e.t.c. and come up with their own stuff)...

The only thing Prado needs for now is a kick ass IDE

You are right, Firoz, in saying that Prado is not very popular. I think the primary reason is because it is so similar to ASP.Net (and all that such an approach entails). It almost seems counter-intuitive to use a Microsoft model on an open source language, but I like the modularity and configuration possibilities.

I can certainly see some developers shying away from Prado due to the fact that it requires them to learn Prado's specific approach and learning its component/class structure, but that's a common issue when selecting a framework.

I agree. Anybody developing in VB/Delphi/ASP.NET would find Prado very similar indeed, and therefore easy to learn. But one question remains - how popular is it really? When there are PHP framework comparisons Prado is rarely mentioned. The last thing I would want to do is start a mid-sized project on a framework that may not be around in the future.
